I have no idea how this little thing I was gonna share got this long... Recently nicole_anell recced "Proud" and taragel said some lovely things about it too. Which--awwww! ^_^ (I love keswindhover and missmurchison sooo much for buying me at the VVC auction and finally making me watch BSG. *G*) Then this morning I had a dream where "I'm Not Dead" and "Cuz I Can" had actually been much longer vids/songs, but I chopped out big sections before sharing them with anyone. So I was watching the full length ones and it was kinda awesome, because CIC had this huge section in the middle that was spoken-word/quasi-rap and all the footage for it was stuff I'd never seen. Which, if I have to imagine footage that doesn't exist, this is how I would like that to happen, thank you. Bonus, turns out there was an episode where Faith showed up on Galactica! (Though, srsly, I *know* I would not have forgotten that.) And these things have what in common? Vid mashups! (Just go with me. :P) Mashups are always fun, and there are some ridiculously perfect ones out there for vids that aren't mine, but I cannot share those. So if you want to see those other ones you'll just have to beg other people to share. But one of my favorites of my own vids is a Proud mashup that jarrow and sisabet made with Rhianna's "Umbrella". (Which I would have totally LOL'd about if I hadn't watched it before I knew what song was coming.) You guys, it makes me tear up! I cannot promise the same for everyone else, but still. Kara is Rhianna! Rainman Adama! Little Miss Sunshine Laura! Kara will always be Lee's friend, and they will all shine together! (Except when they don't. ::cries::) And my dream made me want to share another jarrow mashup of "Cuz I Can" with Teairra Mari's "No Daddy". Because it's *almost* like finding a big part of a vid you cut out and forgot about. ;D And there are matches in that one that are *uncanny*. In fact I'm pretty sure jarrow likes it better than the original vid, but he's mean like that. ^_^ I haven't mashed anything up to "I'm Not Dead", but in lieu of that, I offer a mashup to "God Is A DJ" that I came up with all by myself, and is therefore *super* predictable, but whatever, Kara *is* a brick house, dammit. (So are many other kick-ass chick vids, turns out, lol.) But before I stick in vids, I need to single out jarrow one more time for a vid that *is* brand new and also *awesome*. If you're a vid-watcher and have somehow not seen this recced, please run over to his journal and check out "Like My Very Own Blood". It's a portrait of Daddy Adama and Kara, and, wow, it makes me miss my frakked up show. The cutting is relentless, and the pacing, literally, took my breath away. Just at the point where I wasn't sure I could take anymore, it shattered to a standstill and left my heart bruised and aching and...dying to do it all over again. ;} I never hated Adama, even at the end, but this vid has something for everyone, IMO. You can read it as an indictment or as a layered tragedy. It's all good. (VERY GOOD. \o/) And now, mash-ups if you feel so inclined! :D (There are download links below the streaming if you'd rather go that route.) ProudbellaProudbella - Download Large FLV (640x352) - Right-click and Save As( Two more under the cut! )But I didn't just pop up to rave about someone else's new vid, and belated dress my own up for Halloween. I came to embarrass myself, w00t! If you happened to watch the vidder profile that the amazingly dedicated bradcpu put together on me (before a video game tried to end his editing career *g*), you might have caught the part where I shockingly admit that maybe I kinda totally want to be Starbuck.I'd give you a minute to absorb that bombshell, but I have GEEKY THINGS. A couple of weeks ago taragel linked to this Face-In-Hole site (I can't even read that name in my *head* with a straight face.) And I happened to have some pics from Halloween that were good fodder for...putting in holes. So I now show you what a world with only people who look like me would look like. If that world consisted of Starbuck, Six, and Sam Anders. (Everyone else was replaced by shrimp, sorry.) Me!Kara wears more make-up and has a scarily bright outlook on life. Create your own FACEinHOLE( More under the cut than you ever wanted to see, I promise... )And that should be more than enough blackmail material for one post. :P Tags: dreams, mashups, picspam, starbuck, vid recs, vids Feelin': amused

Mmmmmmmm. This strawberry-rhubarb crisp that I am was eating still warm from the oven is was so so good. See, that's how fast I ate it. And because I'm being good, I'm just going to eat that one bowl. Which means if more people were over here that liked that kind of thing, I could totally share it. ::polishes baking halo:: Heck, radixiscat is even missing out on eating it fresh, because he's at my brother's bachelor party. Which I fully expect to hear had little to no debauchery. (And really, what's the point of keeping the girls away if that's the case?) Whatever, you wacky wedding mythos thingy. Oh, and on top of my crisp, I had some lightly-whipped cream that I just made too. Except the cream was just slightly sour--more on that in a second--so after adding my sugar, I had yummy tangy frothy-more-than-really-whipped cream to pour on my crisp. Srsly. So good. The cream! I found a farm that just started making a raw milk and cream (cow and goat) run to Fargo every couple of weeks, so I have been in dairy bliss for the last two weeks. I made, or rather am still in the process of finishing making, mozzarella cheese today with two gallons of milk that I picked up a few days ago. The guy who delivers it told me those gallons didn't get fully chilled after milking that morning, so if I wanted it to get it, I should use it up quickly--which was exactly what I had in mind anyway. *g* ( Cut for the lactose intolerant... )Aside from burying myself in dairy possibilities, I've also been doing some vidding. Got the last Pink CVV vid for my Kara set done. (Can I call it a Triad instead of a Trilogy? ;D) It doesn't suck, but the final product feels weird after thinking about it for two years. Above and beyond the oddness that is BSG fandom since the show ended. So I haven't decided if sitting on it until August is good or bad at this point. :P Not that I should be worrying about it with all the other vidding work I have still on my to-do list. There's also been gardening/yard stuff to finally do, or at least tinker with between the rain and cold. ( And cut for the non-gardners... ) And I think that's all the rambling I have in me. The cats are running a daily contest for Most Annoying Way to Beg to Go Outside, so that would be the other reason I hope it warms up for real. I'd hate to have to strangle them all. Just in case anyone else is wondering (I was sleeping, jarrow /o\), I am not underwater now, or likely to be in the forseeable future. Fargo is indeed doing its best to hold back the river water, but even in a worst case scenario, my house shouldn't be at risk. So there's that. Due to not feeling awesome for a few days thanks to priceless timing (apparently I am synced with large amounts of water?), I have not personally been of much use to the flood flighting efforts. Other than to drag myself across the river (uhm, not literally, but I did have to drive down a muddy ramp instead of a road at one point) to help take down and send home artwork from this years Women's Perspective show. It was supposed to go down the 31st, but the museum that was hosting it sits right next to the river, and the art was in the lowestest underground level. Ironically, the museum is known best for its Viking ship replica--which sits in the highest point of the building. \o/ At this point, the city is still working to add another foot to its dikes, but there seems to be some disagreement about how high the river will actually crest. Better safe than sorry, but, wow, there are a lot of very tired people out there. They've closed off the busy one-way in front of our house as one of the streets that's only allowing flood-related truck traffic. So it's oddly quiet at the moment. When the giant trucks aren't driving by. And they've closed down a lot of businesses as well to keep traffic out of the way. We've already surpassed the record flood level set in 1897 (and 1997), though I imagine 1897 actually involved more water since there weren't any huge dikes holding it back. Regardless, the river is at a height that no one living here now has dealt with before. So while I'm not too worried about losing my own house, I'm crossing my fingers for people in the lower areas. My (possibly *our*) show, you're over. I don't even know what to say. Though clearly I will try to power through that for my own entertainment. I teared up for the first time ever (for BSG) watching the finale. I don't cry often during TV. (Uhm, unless there are animals.) But this one got me several times at the end. In good ways. Of course I'm glad for the amazing people I've met in this fandom, and the amazing creations and input they've made. But I loved (love!) *the show*. With no qualifiers. No apologies for the people that didn't. I love a lot of shows, but this one stands out for me. Whether I was watching it on the edge of my seat, blood pounding in my ears, or laughing my ass off at the lighter moments--and some of the not-lighter-moments, heh, 'cause srsly show, you rocked the hubris. And a big part of my loving it was that I ribbed it like a family member. This show *engaged* me so freaking hard. Loving it, snarking it, being scared by it, (bonding with radixiscat over it *g*). I'm gonna miss all of that. Well, miss wondering which one of those it was going to bring out of me next anwyay. Hopefully I can cram a little of that appreciation in to the vids I still have in mind. Ah...especially the totally self-indulgent ones, lol. Your presence was appreciated in this house, Galactica. And frak yes, I'll see you on the other side. *g* By which I mean, y'know, tomorrow. And probably a few days forever after that. Tags: bsg Feelin': peaceful

Vid: "I'll Be There For You" Artist: The Rembrandts Fandom: Black Books Summary: Like Friends only wetter drunker. And smokier. And meaner. With jam. And bees. Downloads: 33.8 MB (640 x 352) XviD (The Big One) , or Imeem Version (The Smaller Streaming One)Xvid codec is here. Or you can download the VLC player here. Technically, this vid was released back in October at VidUKon during the "Made in the UK" show that charmax arranged. But in between sending the vid off for the con and the con actually happening, I became discontent and needed to change things. And perhaps it took me four months to sit down and make those changes. :P ( Lyrics )( Notes... )Tags: black books, vids, vidukon Feelin': sleepy

I am alive, and I have voted (Obama of course), and Gerry and I have rewarded ourselves with Nicole's. His Chocolate (and caramel) Sea Salt tart was delicious, and my cranberry pecan scone is making for a lovely second breakfast with my tea. Everyday should be voting day! (Except noooooooooooooooo!)I've also managed to finally catch up on replying to comments on my LJ, and maybe soon I will make some of my own on things like VVC vids. And while I was at that I could post about VVC a little and maybe find some pictures I need to post. But first, tea, scone, and waiting for this day to end, heh. Also probably some raking of leaves and pulling up of carrots. I *was* planning on having Halloween pics of my She-Ra costume (now complete with sword!) to share since I never got a chance to take a basic shot of it at Club Vivid, but my Halloween plans were dashed by a migraine. That conveniently lasted from 8:30pm to 1:30am. I mean, COME ON. I was dressed up and everything, I just hadn't taken any pictures before it got so bad I had to take my headpiece and wig off and lay quietly on the bed until I felt good enough to take the rest of it off. Lame, head, totally lame. So I will probably just get dressed up again and take pictures anyway. At some point. We also bought way too much candy, foolishly thinking we'd have the same number of kids as last year. When instead we went from like 30 last year to 3 this year. Why? Probably because we actually decorated our porch a little this year, I was dressed up, it was nice outside, and we bought plenty of candy. :P And while I'm at it, why do Skittles have to make me feel icky now? And why couldn't my migraine have kicked in before I paid to get into ValleyCon (Fargo's Sci-Fi convention) on Friday and totally wasted that money on suckitude? Speaking of, ValleyCon was supposed to get George Takei as their big guest this year, but he bailed when they couldn't promise him enough people coming through for autograph money. Their last minute replacement? Tracey Scoggins, heh. I desperately wanted to have her sign an autograph written out to "Christiffany" so I could send it to sdwolfpup, but then I realized there was *no* way I was gonna be able to do that with a straight face. (Also I would totally have felt bad secretly making fun of her right in front of her face, awesomely horrible acting or no. /o\) In conclusion, Dear Voting Day, please, please, please let me get what I want?
